JUST IN; Thirteen [13] kidnapped victims rescued as armed bandits set Church on fire

Operatives of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, rescued 13 abducted persons in Gwagwada, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the victims were kidnapped when they had gone to work on their farm, Tanadi Farm, located around Bakin Kasuwa in Gwagwada general area of Chikun local government area of the state.

Confirming the abduction, Kaduna state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in a statement, said that the bandits in the process of kidnapping their victims injured some of them. He also said that they were taken deep into the forest.

He said that the troops, based on credible information trailed the bandits to their secret hiding place in the forest. He said that the bandits seeing the troops, opened fire on them, which was returned by the Soldiers.

“The victims were eventually rescued from captivity after the gun battle, ” he added.


In his statement, he said that the bandits set a Church ablaze and looted several items in some houses in the area.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai, commended the Soldiers for rescuing the 13 captives.

Also, the Governor sympathized with the leadership and members of the Church the bandits set ablaze, he directed the State Emergency Management Agency to conduct an immediate assessment of the damage done.
