Killings; 17 suspected bandits arrested with 34 dogs, guns, cutlasses, charms

No fewer than 17 northerners, suspected to be part of the rampaging bandits terrorising Ondo State, have been arrested by officers of the State security network agency codenamed ‘Amotekun’.

According to reports, the suspected bandits were recently caught with no fewer than 34 dogs, guns, charms, cutlasses, swords, catapults in Okitipupa Local Government Areas of the State.

In his speech, while parading the suspects in Akure recently, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, noted that it was a spirited alarm raised by residents in the LG area that alerted the corps and made them to go after the suspected northern bandits.

“The residents raised the alarm that they suddenly found a number of people who claimed to come from the northern part of the country with guns, charms, cutlasses, swords, catapults. Upon interrogation, they said they were invited to Okitipupa by somebody and that they are actually working for the person, but all attempts to reach the person they claimed they work for proved abortive.

“We have 34 dogs, among able-bodied men who don’t even know where they are going. They claimed they were dropped in Okitipupa by a vehicle and the vehicle had left which calls for very serious concern, looking at the security situation in the country,” he explained.

Speaking further, the Amotekun boss, who noted that investigation into who brought the men and their real mission is still ongoing, warned residents of the area to be vigilant and always alert the security agencies once they see what he described as mysterious things.
