One person killed, 33 others abducted in 55 minutes operation by suspected gunmen

Armed men suspected to be bandits have attacked Kachia town in the southern part of Kaduna State on Wednesday, June 24.

According to reports, the bandits kidnapped 33 persons and killed one person during their operation that lasted for about 55 minutes.

Sources also said that the bandits injured 5 other people during the attack as well. However, those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Hospital do immediate treatment.

Speaking on the incident the District Head of Kachia town, Sabiu Suleiman, while confirming the attack, said that the bandits numbering about 50 stormed the village on motorbikes at about 9:30pm.

He said that when they entered the community, they started shooting indiscriminately. According to him, the bandits ransacked some houses and whisked their victims away.

He said, “27 persons were abducted from Awan Mother Cat junction in Kachia town, 5 persons were also abducted as the bandits raided a bakery.”

“The bandits broke into some houses which were a bit isolated and abducted others,” he said.

However, when the Police Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State, ASP Mohammed Jalige was contacted by Journalists, he said that he does not know how many people that were kidnapped.

He however, said that he has directed his men to go to the affected community and get the details of what really happened.
