People should get involved in fight against insecurity – Police tell Nigerians

Ondo State Police Command has urged Nigerians to support security agencies by joining in the fight against criminal elements in the country.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee Leo-Ikoro, made the disclosure in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

He disclosed that the issue of security should be taken very serious by Nigerians. He said that the citizens can help by providing credible information to security agencies, who will now act on such information.

He said, “Nigerian’s must get involved by cooperating with the Police and other security agencies in the fight against insecurity in the country.”

“They must release all information and must not hoard any information capable of helping the police and other security agencies in the fight against insecurity.”

“They must also be security conscious at all times and ensure that they are their brother’s keeper at all time, ” he said.

Speaking on the low crime rate in Ondo, leo-Ikoro said that crime has drastically reduced in the state because of the role the citizens in the state play.

“Ondo is safe because the members of the public assist the Police by providing useful information, ” he added.

He however, urged residents in the state to do more to stem insecurity and other social vices in the state.
