The Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has dismissed a report that says Boko Haram terrorists were planning a series of attacks in Abuja.
Reacting to the alleged attack, the Joint Security Team of the FCT said that the false news was created to cause tension among residents of Abuja.
Meanwhile, CRIMECHANNELS learnt that the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, Mariam Yusuf, stated that a strategic meeting was held on Thursday, and that the meeting was attended by the Heads of Security Agencies (HOSA).
She said that they resolved to deploy alternative proactive crime-fighting measures, particularly in areas with challenging terrain, including aggressive motorized/patrols.
She said, “the patrols will be conducted in line with the peculiarities of every terrain within the territory.”
“The team has adopted the use of motorcycles, horses and other technical means of gathering intelligence to checkmate criminality within the Federal Capital Territory, ” she noted.
Meanwhile, the FCT Joint Security Team chaired by the Commissioner of Police in FCT, Bala Ciroma advised residents of Abuja to remain calm.
Ciroma also advised Nigerians to verify any information before circulating in the media to avoid creating panic.
