Policeman filmed dragging woman behind motorbike

Alleged for having hand in a robbery incident in Nakuru county, in the Rift Valley region of Kenya, a woman, simply identified as Mercy Cherono, has been hospitalised after having been whipped and dragged on the road by a Policeman.

The lady was allegedly tied to a motorcycle by the Policeman and was continuously being whipped while she was being dragged by the motorcycle.

The incident however sparked issues amongst residents as the whole incident was filmed by people.

According to reports, the Policeman is currently undergoing investigation for perpetrating such act that have made the woman hospitalised with injuries on her legs and hands.


It will be noted that Police violence has been on the increase since the introduction of partial and total lockdown in most countries as a measure to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus. The case of George Floyd, a black American that was killed by a Police officer explains that as well.

According to a recent report by UN human rights office, the number of documented Police violence across the country of Kenya has been on the rise since the commencement of the lockdown on 25 March.

A watchdog body disclosed that 15 people have been killed during the period of the lockdown with a further 31 injured due to police violence.
