Residents of Dikwa, in Borno state fled their homes as armed armed suspected to be Boko Haram terrorist invaded the village on Friday.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the deadly terrorist group stormed the area around 6:05pm in the evening, but were met with heavy fire power from troops of the Nigeria Army, who engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
According to an eyewitness living in the village, the battle lasted for about an hour.
The eyewitness said, “They came into Dikwa around 6:05 pm, shooting sporadically.”
“They took soldiers by surprise. Thousands of our people are taking refugee in the bush as we speak. I just spoke with an International Non-Governmental Organisation worker who told me that the sounds are deafening.”
Meanwhile, a top security source confirmed the attacked on Dikwa, but he said the troops are on the matter.
The security source said, “Our air support are currently bombarding the outlaw group, troops are on top of the situation. There is no cause for alarms.”
