Suspected armed hoodlums kill Police officer; abduct three [3] Chinese expatriates

There was tension in Ifewara community in Atakunmosa West of Osun State following the kidnap of 3 Chinese expatriates.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the incident, which occurred on Monday, February 1st, 2021, led to the death of a Police officer, who was the detail of the expatriates.

A source in the community where the abduction took place revealed there was an argument over wages between the expatriates and some labourers, which snowballed to a major crisis in the area.

He said, “There was an altercation between those Chinese and some labourers in the area, and the gunmen used the privilege to carry out their plan.”

“We have been trailing them for days now but have not found them. They are demanding for N500 million as a ransom.”

However, countering what was said by the local, a security source revealed some northerners were responsible for the kidnap of the expatriates, noting they were demanding for the sum of N500million, before they can be released.

Meanwhile, the Corps Commander of Amotekun in Osun state, General Bashir Adewinbi, when contacted by journalist, confirmed the incident.

He said, “One Policeman was killed during the attack and they abducted 3 Chinese. We have drafted our men to the area to arrest the perpetrators and ensure the safety of those that were kidnapped.”

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying, “We have mobilised our officers to the area since Monday but we are yet to make any arrest.”

“We don’t know the identity of those that kidnapped the Chinese. The police officer that was killed was from another state.”
