Suspected armed robber caught, beaten to death after robbery operation
On Saturday, a crowd in Katsina ambushed and murdered one of five armed thieves who took a Honda vehicle from Alhaji Usman Abdulmumuni, 52, who was supervising ongoing work on his farm in Kirkini village, Kankia Local Government Area of the state.
SP Isah Gambo, the spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, made the announcement at a press conference while displaying the hoodlum’s remains.
The five robbers arrived in a car to meet the farmer on his farm, according to SP Gambo. Then four of them alighted and approached him politely.
When the farmer who had no idea what they were plotting approached them, they waved a gun at him, revealing that they were armed thieves. Then he went to get his phone and the cash he had on him. They also asked for his car key, which he gave them.
The farmer, on the other hand, swiftly informed the community, who in turn contacted the local Divisional Police Officer. Unfortunately for the robbers, the path they took led them right into the hands of an enraged mob from the neighborhood who had set out on the road in search of them.
While four of the robbers were able to flee, the driver of the stolen automobile was captured and beaten to death by the angry mob.
SP Gambo in his report stated that: “On 21/05/2022 at about 1200hrs, a distress call was received that armed robbers numbering about five in a motor vehicle, attacked one Alhaji Usman Abdulmumini, aged 52yrs of Charanchi LGA.
“The farmer was supervising work at his farm, in Kirkini village, Kankia LGA, when the robbers at gunpoint snatched away his blue colour motor vehicle, ‘Honda – Discussion Continue’ with registration number CRC 135 KA, valued at N2.6 million.
