Tanker Explosion; Five [5] persons burnt to death as petrol tanker goes up in flames

A tanker explosion in Ogun State have killed no fewer than 5 persons on Wednesday, June 16, says the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

It was learnt that the tanker which was loaded with fuel content had gone up in flame at Ajilete axis of the Owode-Idiroko road, in Ogun State.

Confirming the tragic incident,
the FRSC Commander, Idiroko Unit, Akinwunmi Olaluwoye said that the accident happened at about 8:15am. He added that 5 of the victims were burnt to death, while 2 persons were injured in the accident.

He explained that a bus and a motorcycle were equally razed in the inferno.

He said, “No vehicle rammed into the tanker. The tank dropped off from the back of the tanker and exploded. The number of persons involved is 7, 5 dead, 2 injured.”


“The Driver had taken away the head of the truck as at the time we got there. But we have allowed the police to take charge and handle that aspect, “he said.

The Commander also said that the corpses of the deceased have been taken by their families.
