Tension in Ife/Modakeke as protesting youths took 2 dead bodies to Monarch’s Palace

There is palpable tension in Modakeke town in Osun State following Wednesday’s discovery of 2 dead bodies by some youths residing in the community.

According to sources, the corpses of the yet to be identified woman and a younger male suspected to be her child sparked anger as the youths has vowed to avenge the death of the deceased.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the woman and her child were reportedly killed at Alapata village, between Modakeke and Ife by an unknown assailant.

It was learnt that the youths, angry about the incident, took the dead bodies to the Palace of the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Moses Oyediran in protest, vowing to pick up arms in an attempt to apprehend the culprits.

However, the Monarch pleaded with the youths to allow the community leaders and the Police to investigate the matter.

The Public Relations Officer, Madakeke Progressive Union, Venerable Debo Babalola confirmed that 2 persons were killed under circumstances yet to be unraveled.

He said, “It is true that 2 persons were killed and their corpses found on Wednesday, the youths are even angry about the incident and have vowed to apprehend the culprits and deal with them, but we don’t know the circumstances surrounding their death yet.”

“We are still investigating the situation and by tomorrow morning, we might have adequate information about the situation, ” he said.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola when contacted pleaded for time to get more details of the incident.
