Three Police officers on Patrol duty killed, two suspects arrested

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of three police officers in Okpanam, Delta State’s Oshimili North Local Government Area.

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, three police officers on patrol were killed by unknown gunmen in the Okpanam community.

The Command also denied that a “6-6 curfew has been declared in Okpanam with effect from 26/7/22 to allow security agencies to carry out their duties.”

DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, stated that there is no curfew in the Okpanam community.

According to Edafe, “As a matter of fact, Okpanam community is calm and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident that led to the death of three Policemen in the early hours of Sunday 24/7/2022 and the Command is closing up on the other members of the gang.

This is not only laughable but completely rediculous and a lie put up by some mischievous persons to cause confusion among residents of the community”.

Meanwhile, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, urged residents of Okpanam to go about their lawful business(es) without fear because the Command is not only capable and willing, but also committed to the protection of life and property in the State.
