Police Officer got electrocuted on top of a tree

The people of Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been thrown in to sorrow following the death of a Chief Superintendent of Police, that was electrocuted on top of a tree.

The Chief Superintendent of Police, Lasaka Habila, on Sunday, reportedly attempted to cut down branches of a tree opposite National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Garki, Abuja. The cutlass and the branches that had been cut down by him showed that he really attempted to do so before he was electrocuted.

He was however rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja, by the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) search and rescue team, where his death was confirmed.

Lamenting the circumstances surrounding his death, the Director-General, FEMA, Alhaji Idriss Abbas, urged residents to stay cautious of such acts without approval from the appropriate quarters.

He urged that the FCT Parks and Recreation Department should be contacted before they (residents) cut down tress, especially during this rainy season, as lots of trees would bloom and come in contact with electricity cables which may transmit high currents through the leaves and branches, and residents would not be able to figure that out.
