Two [2] suspected armed men shot dead during robbery operation

Police operatives attached to Ogun State Command have killed 2 suspected armed robbers in a gun battle at Shagamu interchange, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated this in a release made available to CRIMECHANNELS.

Oyeyemi said that the DPO of Shagamu Division, CSP Okiki Agunbiade, received a distress call at 9pm, that some armed robbers were robbing some people at Shagamu interchange.

He said that the DPO upon receipt of the complaints, mobilized his team to the area, adding that the robbers upon sighting the Police men opened fire, which the Police returned back, leading to the death of the 2 robbers. He said that other members of the gang fled the scene with gunshot injuries.

He said that the robbers seriously injured one Adekunle Adewale. According to Oyeyemi, the robbers left a deep cut on his head. He however disclosed that the man was immediately rushed to the Hospital.

Oyeyemi said the Police recovered several items such as one electric clipper, 3 ATM cards and one blood stained cutlass from the slain robbers.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun expressed his gratitude to the gallant Police officers who dispersed the robbers during the shoot out. He however urged the Police officers to form a search team that will hunt the rest of the fleeing members of the gang.

He appealed to the general public to assist the Police by providing credible information that could possibly lead to the arrest of the gang, especially those who ran to the Hospital to treat their gun wounds.
