Two Police officers die, 17 other officers injured in road accudent; CP mourns
The Borno State Commissioner of Police Borno, CP Abdu Umar, has mourned the tragic death of two female officers of the state command, who recently died in a ghastly road accident.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the state police spokesperson, ASP Sani Kamilu, the deceased officers were part of the state police delegation sent to participate in the Bi_annual Police Games 2022 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The accident reportedly happened on their to the event at Hawan Kibo in the Plateau State axis with no fewer than 17 other officers sustaining varying degrees of injuries.
The state police spokesperson attributed the accident to mechanical break failure, saying that the personnel who lost their lives and injured victims were conveyed back to Maiduguri.
According to the state PRO, ‘A befitting burial was conducted and the injured are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in maiduguri, and also promised to link up with the remaining participants in Uyo on Wednesday.
“The Commissioner of Police CP ABDU UMAR Mnim, who led a delegation of the management team of Borno state command commiserated with the families of the deceased officers and equally used the opportunity to wish the injured personnel quick recovery and also prayed for the remaining team members that continued with their journey to participate in the ongoing IGP biennial Police games journey mercie to and fro.
He finally urged the families of the departed souls to bear with the irreparable loss especially at this trying time,” the state PRO further stated.
