[VIDEO] Nigerian Soldiers fire guns, dance in excitement over removal of Service Chiefs

Following the removal of the service Chiefs on Tuesday, Jan. 26, some Soldiers, in a video, danced and fired shots in the air in jubilation.

The action exhibited by these Soldiers showed that, like every other Nigerian, they were fed up of the leadership of the sacked service Chiefs.

The service Chiefs removed include by the President include; Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

The President announced their replacement that same day. The new service Chiefs are; Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A. Z. Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; Air-Vice Marshal I. O. Amao, Chief of Air Staff.


According to reports, there was also celebration at a Naval facility, as Officers and men of the Air Force were delighted the ex-military heads were removed after being in service since 2015.

Meanwhile, a former Senator, Rufai Hanga, claimed that the President feared that a coup might take place, hence his refusal to remove them before now.

Several Politicians, Governors and well meaning Nigerians have commended the decision of the President to bring in new service Chiefs.

Nyesome Wike, the Governor of Rivers state was one of the many who expressed delight over the appointment of new personnel. The Governor urged the new appointees to see their appointments as an opportunity to re-engineer the nation’s security architecture which saw tremendous challenges in the last 5 years.
