You can help to prevent crimes, Insecurity- CP charges Community Leaders

The Kwara Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, on Saturday called on community leaders and other stakeholders to provide credible information that could prevent criminal activities in the Soviet.

Olaiya gave task at a high level security summit with stakeholders in the state.
He discussed issues regarding peace and security in the state in a bid to ensure that crimes and criminality are brought down to a bearable level in the state.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all communities, villages and district heads, including Miyetti Allah, Gan-Allah and Fulani Association leaders.

The CP advised all the village and district heads to go home and preach the gospel of peaceful co-existence to their respective subjects.


He reiterated his resolve to deal legally but ruthlessly with criminals of whatever nomenclature in the state.

He warned that the command would not watch some nonentities in the society truncate the delicate peace and tranquility Kwara is known for.

The discussion was centered on measures to be adopted to mitigate the prevalent cases of kidnapping, farmers/herders clashes, cultism and robbery, among others, in the state.

The stakeholders were permitted to express their uncensored views regarding security issues under review and the way forward.

On kidnapping, it was generally agreed that Bororo Fulanis must give information about the criminal activities of their kiths in the communities and also report the activities of saboteurs among the indigenes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other security issues of concern to the state, especially cult related activities, were equally discussed and measures to forestall the crimes also adopted. (NAN)
